Word on the street.

According to the radio conference with Roy this week, it is up to Tyler Zeller if he wants to come back and play the rest of the season.

The scuttlebutt is that he is going to comeback and play since there is a short bench, and this might be his big shot to win a NC.

Look to see Zeller on the court vs. NCSU.

DOOK OWNAGE. Miami squeaker.

Into CIS for the final round of PsychoT, DG and Frasor's career. The boys left victorious 101-87 and it was a pretty sound beating after about 3 minutes to go in the first half.

I can't say much  more about it. I will just post this.......

On to Miami..........I always say on the boards we play bad at Miami, and they always get up for us.
Well McClinton was spectacular again, his release is so strange, but it just goes in automatic for the people.

It looked sketch in the first half. Yet the boys were able to get it together, and ride the back of Ty Lawson who has a spectacular second half.
Including the trey bomb dagger at the end to keept he 'Canes at bay and get out of town with a W.

Next up is State @ Dean Dome.

The first act is about to begin.........

Virgina passed through the Hill this weekend, similar to most of the wins this season the game played tight until the latter part of the 1st half and then the boys hit the gas. After that it was never close again.

Its always great to win, and win by nice margins, but I am very skeptical that this no bench scoring stuff can maintain.

At any rate the boys are walking into Cameron Indoor this Wednesday for the first act in the yearly drama that is North Carolina - Duke.

It should be exciting, Duke has taken a whipping and eeked out a hot Miami team recently, and will fall in the rankings under UNC later today.

I really like the Heels in this spot, if Roy can get the guys to effectively play a tough inside game, with the perimeter threat I think its possible we can run the Dukies out of their own gym.

Of course we have to be prepared that Duke will come out and play its best game of the season. Giving us a real run at it, even though in my bias opinion I think our guys are the better team.

Anyway not a lot can be said, as always its going to be a amazing game, and Psycho Ts last time to rule in Cameron in front of all the Crazies.

Catching Up.

I have been on the road a bit and unable to update, I apologize to the thousands of readers. LOL.

The boys had a tight one at FSU, which I fully expected. FSU always plays us tough at home, we stole one there.

Followed up by some real dominate play vs. NCSU and MD. Though last night in the MD game the D was so lax Roy actually called a TO and didn't even talk, he just gave the Pat Summit stare.

Wayne Ellington is starting to come on strong, keep it up kid.

Big news is Ginyard is going to try to get a med-red, and Will Graves has been suspended for the year for poor conduct. He will be allowed to practice and be with the team, but will not play.

Rumours are that he has a poor attitude, refuses to buy into the plan the staff is putting forth to the players, as well it has circulated he has issues with physical behaviour and possibly substances.

This is a sad development for the depth of the team. I really didn't want to see TZ coming back and risk future injury and development, but now I think there is no choice.

UVA is up next, 2nd time this season......then the DOOKIES.

0-54.

WOW!

A total offensive attack by the boys with some decent D thrown in, we absolutely crushed the #9 team in the country. A team that is half way decent.

For the second game in a row Wayne Ellington shows up big, PsychoT is his regular work horse self, Danny Green is awesome, Ty Lawson is awesome, and even Deon shows up.

Just like I said yesterday, if we are firing on all cylinders, does anyone really stand a chance?

Oh ya, Fake Forest showed their first dull spot vs. VT last night. I expect them to collapse a few more times this seasons, and show that their ascent to #1 was premature.

The Last Streak.

Clemson enters the Smith Center tonight ranked #9 in the country and coming off a loss courtesy of nationally ranked #1 Wake Forest.

The last long standing streak is at risk again tonight, Clemson is 0-53 in Chapel Hill and they have been pushing to stop that streak the last few times in town. 3 of our last 4 games vs. the Tigers were close, two going into OT. Including the dagger to the heart win courtesy of Wayne "I'm back" Ellington.

We always seem to have some type of trouble with Clemson teams. This team is better than last years team and they will matchup pretty good with us.

The key as always though is we must play tight D and keep on of their guys from going berserker on the court.

Vegas lines are settling in at -13 UNC which I think is a little high, but the books are trying to protect themselves some because they know its possible a fully firing Heels is a dangerous thing to their bottom line, so they are trying to even the money out a little easier by hanging a little high line.

We need D and big O from all our threats tonight.

GO HEELS!

PS- If anyone sees Deon thompson on campus today, tell him there is a game tonight and we would appreciete if he showed up.

Zeller and Ginyard questions.

Roy held his radio show and participated in the ACC media tele-conference and addressed questions about Zeller and Ginyard which is the hot topic on the boards and in the minds of UNC fans lately it seems.

Here is what he said.

Tele-Conference on Ginyard:

Posed the question that if Ginyard plays another game will it affect the red shirt option?
“My guess is – and please emphasize the word ‘guess’ – is that if he plays in one more game, and then something were to happen, then it would have to be [on] an appeal basis, and who knows whatever is going to happen with that.”

On the radio show:

About Zeller

“My weeks are running together, but I think it was last week that he had his cast removed completely. He doesn’t go back to the doctor again until Feb. 4th or 14th – it’s one of those. Yes, there’s a chance that he could come back and play again, but that’s not what we’re expecting [and] that’s not what we’re planning. If you bring a kid back and he plays three basketball games, then he loses a whole year’s eligibility.

“So I’m saying 99.9 percent that he will not come back. I just think that’s the prudent thing to do. But there is a chance that he could, and my big deal is that I want him to come back and start practicing because I think it will help him out so much in the future if he can get out there on the practice floor. And he’s been great – I said something like that to him and he said, ‘Yeah, Coach, I need to get out there and play against Tyler,’ because he understands how much that’s going to help him.

“There is no plan right now to have Tyler Zeller come back and play at the end of the year. We’re trying to get him healthy and trying to get him back into practice situations, and hopefully, when he goes back to the doctor, I’m hopeful that they will release him at that time to start doing some minimum practice activities. But I’m not even really counting on that, because they said 12 to 16 weeks and I think when we did the math on that, it gets you to the end of February. I just don’t think it’s worth it to do those kinds of things.”

On Ginyard:

“I have no idea… He has not practiced. He will not practice [on Tuesday] and he will not play Wednesday. We’re going to give the guys a couple of days off after the Clemson game and I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to get some things going with Marcus back out on the court hopefully next week… I know that the absolute earliest that he would come back and practice would be Sunday of next week, and then I think it would take us a little bit to evaluate where he stands at that time.”
